On Friday we kicked off our year of further expansion as we held out first Women with Altitude event at the gorgeous Highgate House in Kingston ( Thank you gracious Emma and Tanvi) Our speaker was former criminal analyst turned jewellery designer, entrepreneur Jemima Ashleigh. Jemima is passionate and direct, she is on a mission, and I share it with her body and soul! We need to get more women out of the small business failure rate. In an entertaining and ‘in your face in a good way’ shine talk, here are Jem’s top takeaways to remember – I think they’re perfect for our MM so thanks again Jem.
1. Authenticity is Queen. It’s time to push through the fear, and connect up with tribes that are going to help and support you. (We happily know the benefit of this at wwa! ???? Authenticity also means asking for help, admitting when we don’t know all of the answers and being honest and open – We could all do more of this
2. Nobody died today. When Jem was in her other incredibly challenging profession, Her leader once said this to her when they had all had what they thought was a bad day. “Nobody died today, so today is a good day” Every day that we have our loved ones in it, safe and sound and with us is a good day – Its a higher start point to pull us out of our owns arses ( I said that last bit, not Jem ????

3. You are the sum of the five people you hang out with. I have often liked this sentence but didn’t quite get it until today. If you’re going to hang out with positive up people with great attitudes and actions, it’s going to rub off on you. So choose your people you hang out with and spend time with wisely.
4. Nobody Cares How You Feel
Now, this is a tough one but true. The fact that you’re tired limping cos you kicked your toes, with a headache and you’ve just spent 3 hours in traffic, and the kids are screaming, will make no difference to the person who is after you for what they need or want. The challenge is to self-care, have boundaries or suck it up and push through and remember that people are actioning everything through their unique filter.
Thanks Jemima, It was just the reminder we needed to inspire us. For more info on Jemima, Click here
