Finding time in your day for ?

The clock is ticking, always ticking…  I have been watching the  clock all day as it counts down the hours while I cram to complete  all of the tasks I set myself for today – Its 12.18pm on Monday  morning now and I’m on my final task – writing this post for  Monday Mindset.  Today has revealed a theme, as it usually does  and that is how pushed around by time, I often am, and that you  I’m sure often are too.

Well the buck always stops with me and I can’t blame anyone or anything or any TIME on anyone but myself. Everyone has the same amount of time, its what we choose to do with our allocation. I’ll take a step further and say that my biggest problem is underestimating how long tasks will take. Time management experts say that our business days are filled with only 3 things: thoughts, conversations and doing tasks. What I have learnt recently is that I have been undervaluing the importance of thinking, the power of staring and pondering and allowing creativity to flow. I have been undervaluing it and as a consequence not been building it into my day.

So this month I’m penciling in thinking and pondering time. I’m going to schedule it in and embrace what I previously judged as distracted idle time – wish me luck!

Whilst we’re on the subject of time and the management of such, I found this great article called 5-time management techniques worth using – I’m so excited when I see number 2 – Tickler files! I used tickler files in a role I had in 1992! I had forgotten about this technique, but it really works!

Hope  they are helpful – Enjoy your Monday! I have to go, I have pondering time slotted in whilst I brush my teeth
