In my opening speech on Saturday night’s Altitude Awards, I mentioned Brene Browns definition of daring greatly was the willingness to be vulnerable. When finalist Saba Vasefi stood to receive her Brave Rising Star Award she broke into an Islamic chant that was hauntingly beautiful and silenced the room in the most compassionate way. In fact everyone who spoke, shared their love and gratitude for what they wish to achieve and what they are passionate about or what has been challenging or tricky. It was humbling and lovely, and in my opinion everyone dared greatly who came to the mic. It was a room full of inspiration, love and gratitude.
We love
this process and the final result in which we present the awards, but bigger
than that is the recurring theme of gratitude. We have so much to be thankful
for and the Altitude Awards is that moment in time to focus on that.
Our black and white theme was stunning, and the venues exceeded expectations yet again.
A huge effort goes in behind the scenes and I wanted to take a moment to thank all of the finalists who came and supported the awards, who generously gave prizes for the raffle, and items for the goodie bags. My team, Stephanie, Erica, Haney, Andrea ( not me, a different one ) and of course Christine worked really hard on the awards for 6 months behind the scenes and in a few weeks time will begin it all over again for 2020. Christine worked late, wrangled students and helped pull the raffle together for a charity she is part of, Fantastic Futures. Also our Wednesday fairy Tina who has been a little light for us this year – thank you.
Thank you to Josh from Joos for taking video and for Sharon Trejbal for taking
beautiful photos. Our major sponsors, The Commonwealth Bank, Western Sydney Business
Centre and Digital Age Lawyers thank you for supporting our awards and the
category sponsors who helped make the night wonderful. Also thank you to Kerry
Howard, Melissa Browne, Sara from Jasmine & Stone for the prizes that you generously
made available to the winners. And to the heavily pregnant Jacqui from Wild
Blue who still managed to make the room look beautiful.
Photos will
be available on Sharon Trejbal’s photography Facebook page and the link is here:

If you
would like to see those. I’m taking a day off on Monday to rest and I look
forward to seeing you all soon,
